* Tricky
often said in interviews that he wrote a song about Andrew Smith (writer
for The Face magazine), because he portrayed him in the press as a bad
father:
"So he
wrote a song about "putting [Smith] in the boot of a car shooting his face".
Tricky gave the tune, "Darker Magic", to British rapper Silvah (ne Silver)
Bullet, and this summer it may finally come out, on Bullet's album. "Fuck
the music industry, let's take it back to the council flats, guns, grenades
and baseball bats," it goes, roughly." (The Face,
May 98)
This live
song could be that song, at least it has the following lyrics:
"I put
my sleeps up (?), fuck a few MCs up, if you don't set off, blow
your fucking head off... Fuck the music industry, let's take it back to
the council flats, guns, grenades and baseball bats... on your knees, boy,
I wait for you to set off, blow your fucking head off... are you the real
one, the real funky real one..."
Also Cath
Coffey sings on it, parts of her own song "Doll On A Music Box".
